Hello all of you out there it’s been a long time and we miss you all, hope you are all looking after yourselves and keeping safe as this situation continues.
It is with great sadness that we have been told of the passing of Dave Hubbard our original bass player with the Rooters .
Dave was with the Band from the beginning after John, Dave and Colin Mills other supergroup the “Armadillos“ decided to roll up its musical shell.
Dave’s part in the band was integral taking on his share of lead vocals and harmonies whilst on the bass and we spent many a year gigging through some questionable venues so lets remember the good times. A consummate Blues aficionado Dave always spoke about his time with the legendary Steve Marriot at a curry house after a gig.
He was a great raconteur and had a tale for every conversation which would put a taxi driver to shame and also an opinion which he always stuck to.
I am sure that the share price of Guinness and Kebabs were at their highest when nights were spent either drinking or playing at the Coventry beer Engine with John and Pip. Some of the conversations in the van on the way back from gigs, at gigs and laughs together were legendary although his regaling in great descriptive detail of what he was going to eat when he got back from a gig was not !- but it got us through a good few miles!
Dave decided to leave the band after health issues which began to affect his playing Dave played his last gig with us at the Arches Venue by which time Roger was standing in for us frequently due to Dave’s health.
I received the sad news this morning of his passing last night and send our deepest heartfelt condolences to Dave’s wife Jackie ,son Tom and Charlotte.
Remembering the great times and happy memories with Dave playing together on the road.
Rest in Peace Dave and much love to his family at this sad time.
